Bad results-Houston Community College Banned from enrolling new Nursing Students

Houston Community College is currently under  a conditional status after many of the nursing graduate from the college performed below average and failed the the National Council Licensure Examination over the past three years. The Texas Board of Nursing, which oversees nursing programs in Texas is championing this downgrade of the nursing programme in the institution, though this is not the first time the community college nursing programme is having a problem. Read more of the news after the jump.  However, the Chancellor of the school insists the programme is at the level it should be but need some little upgrade.

New NHS Rules for Professionals movement across EU

New rules come into force today (18 January) governing the free movement of professionals, including health professionals, around the EU. For the NHS in Europe, the new rules will help the service maintain its workforce and keep patients safe, the NHS Confederation claims. Existing EU law provides for holders of certain qualifications, such as medical and nursing qualifications, to have their qualifications recognised in EU countries other than the one in which they trained. This means they can practise across the EU with the minimum of barriers and delay. Key changes for the NHS in the new rules include updated minimum training requirements for midwives, doctors, general care nurses, dentists and pharmacists, as well as the introduction of an EU-wide warning system to guard against rogue professionals entering the UK from other EU countries and vice-versa.
